A group of Tech graduates put up a $50,000 reward for information on the murder of former Texas Tech basketball player Andre Emmett.

He was shot in Dallas in the early morning hours of September 23.

The confrontation was captured on surveillance footage and shows Emmett sitting in his car. The first suspect approached and hit him in the face with a gun. Emmett then handed over valuables including jewelry and took off running trying to escape. He was shot from behind.

The detective leading the investigation has gone through Emmett's background looking for information.

"He played basketball for Carter, he went to Texas Tech, played for Bobby Knight. He got drafted in the NBA and currently, he was playing in the three v. three basketball league," said Detective Scott Sayers with the Dallas Police Dept. "He was a good man with children, young children, a mother that cared deeply for him, a sister and lots of friends that cared deeply for him."

Police say they have been receiving tips over the last few weeks and that someone out there knows who's responsible.
