"Empire" star Jussie Smollett turned himself in to Chicago police early this morning. The 36-year-old is charged with felony disorderly conduct. He's accused filing a false police report.

In January, the "Empire" star claimed he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack. Police could not find any surveillance video of the alleged incident.

Two brothers who were brought in for questioning told police Smollett had paid them to do it. They said Smollett was upset that he wasn't getting enough attention over a threatening letter he had received. They testified in front of a grand jury yesterday.

Filing a false police report in Illinois carries a maximum sentence of 3 years. Smollett expected to be in court later today.
