A Texas Tech football player has been hospitalized after a wreck on the Marsha Sharp Freeway Wednesday morning.

Police say deep snapper Kyle Heffron lost control of his pickup while going westbound on the freeway, just before 10 a.m. He was driving under the University Avenue overpass, hit a guardrail, then the concrete pillar in the median and was thrown from the vehicle.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury released the following statement: "We continue to gather information on Kyle's accident this morning and obviously our main concern is his health and well-being. We have been in contact with Kyle's family throughout the day. We all expect that he'll make a full recovery soon."

Heffron is listed in satisfactory condition.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
