IRVING, Texas – Highlighted by her first career 20-point performance on Wednesday, freshman Bailey Maupin has been named Big 12 Freshman of Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
For the week, the Gruver product scored 15 points a game and grabbed five rebounds. Maupin opened the week with 12 points and 5 rebounds against Jackson State, before exploding for a career-high 20 point game against Colorado.
The freshman closed out the strong week on Sunday with an efficient 13 point performance on 3-of-5 shooting. Maupin made at least four throws in all three games this week and now has reached four made free throws in all four games of her Lady Raider career.
So far this season, Maupin has reached double figures in all four games. She is just the fourth Lady Raider since 2000 to acheieve this feat joining Arella Guirantes (2016-17), Jia Perkins (2003-04) and Plenette Pierson (1999-00).
The Lady Raiders return to action for the Las Vegas Invitational against Middle Tennessee (Friday) and Mercer (Saturday). Tip-off Friday is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT) while Saturday's game is slated for a 10 p.m. (CT) start.
