Lubbock police say two separate pursuits overnight lead to two wrecks.
One happened at 98th and Quaker.
An officer saw a disturbance in the parking lot of the EZ Mart located at 73rd St. and Quaker Ave. The officer attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, but police say the driver rapidly accelerated and fled the scene. The officer pursued the vehicle to the area of 98th Street and Quaker Ave., where the vehicle drove into the ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver fled the scene and has not located. The passenger had minor injuries from the crash.
The other chase involved a stolen vehicle. That crash happened at E. Tulane and N. Ash Ave.
Police say they located a stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Oak Ave., but the vehicle fled. During the ensuing pursuit, the vehicle traveled westbound in the 900 block of E. Erskine St. and lost control of the vehicle while turning northbound in the 600 block of N. Ivory Ave. causing him to collide into a residence in the 800 block of E. Erskine Street.
Police say the vehicle continued to evade. The vehicle was northbound in the 2000 block of N. Ash Avenue and turned eastbound onto the 100 block of E. Tulane Street when he lost control and collided into a gas meter and a telephone pole in the east alley of the 2000 block of N. Ash Avenue.
