Dixon released on $2 million bond

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Thomas Michael Dixon was released on bail Monday afternoon from the Lubbock County Jail. His bond was set at $2 million by justices in the Seventh Court of Appeals in December. 

The one-time Amarillo plastic surgeon was sentenced to life in prison without parole for hiring his business partner, David Shepard to murder Lubbock Pathologist Joseph Sonnier in 2012. 

Dixon's capital murder conviction was overturned in December by an Texas appellate court. 

Court documents state the conditions of Dixon's bond and may revoke the bond if conditions are not met. 

As part of his release, Dixon must reside in Potter/Randall County while he awaits retrial. He's also been ordered a curfew from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. and is required to wear a GPS monitor.

Dixon's retrial date has not been set.
