LUBBOCK, Texas -

Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon visited Lubbock Tuesday.

Her stop is part of the 68 federal offices as part of her Ignite tour.

While touring she made a stop at Bahama Bucks, a local business that has gone nationwide. The goal of her visit was to get a better understanding of small business.

"The economy is good, there is good access to capital, we have more entrepreneurs starting businesses," McMahon said. "I mean here in Lubbock we had not only an increase in the dollar amount of loans that SBA is guaranteeing but also an increase in the different businesses that are getting loans from SBA. So all of those are really good indicators that the confidence in the economy and the confidence from those entrepreneurs starting and growing and expanding their businesses is there and and it's a really good time to go into business and to go in business in our country."

As the Small Business Administrator, one of her goals is to listen to those on the ground.

"We write a lot of policy in Washington, we can set the direction of the agency but it's those folks on the ground that really give us feedback and interact with the small business who are really providing the services to those businesses," she said.

During her short visit to Lubbock, McMahon said she was impressed with the environment that fosters small business.

"Lubbock is a really fantastic place the way that it is growing. and we see many of those kinds of cities and towns across the country but Lubbock clearly, it's a great location, it's got good capital, good financing and has such diversity, so it's a great place to be."
