Wreaths Across America to honor fallen veterans

LUBBOCK, Texas -

In remembrance of our fallen veterans this holiday season, the Civil Air Patrol and Wreaths Across America will host its wreath-laying ceremony Saturday, Dec. 15.

So far the non-profit has placed orders for more than 200 wreaths, but more are needed. There are more than 2,000 veteran graves at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Last year Wreaths Across America collected 733 wreaths. Anyone can sponsor, with wreaths starting at $15.

Volunteers interested can participate in Wreaths Day or by sponsoring a remembrance wreath. Wreaths Across America aims to reach its goal of honoring each veteran at the city's cemetery.

Those interested in purchasing a wreath or for more information, contact Capt. Tammy Preidis at 806-429-2033.

Wreaths Across America founded to continue the annual December wreath-laying ceremony that started at Arlington National Cemetery. The organization's mission strives to remember, honor and teach by coordinating ceremonies across the nation.
