LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Texas Tech Graduate School hosts its annual Arts and Humanities Research Conference.

The conference features presentations by Tech graduate students, highlighting research and work in the arts and humanities. Dean of the Graduate School Mark Sheridan said one of the things he hopes to accomplish with the conference is to talk about how important arts and humanities are to society.

"Increasingly the arts and humanities are under attack, because they're perceived to not give value to society, they're not important in education. But in fact, the arts and humanities are important for us developing ability to analyze information and the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas."

Sheridan adds the competition allows students from all disciplines across campus an opportunity to showcase their work.
